While
this person doesn't subscribe to the views of Creativity, he does make
the excellant point of free speech for all and an end to media bias, on
all matters.
Matter
of belief
Regarding A. Roebuck (A question of
faith,
TMB 26/3/01), three things occur to me :
- No one can justify a holy war and it is,
of course, very difficult to justify many wars, at all, but perhaps
some things are worth standing up for - freedom of speech, freedom of
the press, freedom of religion, the right to write letters to the press
about the relevance of such freedoms and the like
- And please forgive my ironic sense of
humour, but " ... in this third millenium, it might be well to review
the relevance of all ancient religious teachings ... " I note that
someone who wants us to discount the relevance of "ancient" religious
teachings still uses the Christian calendar!
- And, of course, any child can say a thing
is silly, simply because they don't really understand what it is that
they think is silly to them. That doesn't mean it is : it just means
they don't understand it.
I don't wish to start a holy war about
this. In our society we have the right to hold different views but,
surely, we should consider our beliefs as adults, having thought the
issues through.
Robert
Mills, Rockhampton.
